alright i checked, and pretty much anything that uses additional power shows on my volt meter. blinkers, windows, hazards too. even shifting into reverse shows a decrease in volts, lol

So its not just me..

I don't think it is normal, just very common..

I spoke to a man at KFC with a mint 86, and he said he's never seen the voltmeter do anything of that sort. So I'm guessing its happenening to those of us with non-oem alternators..

I'm thinking of that mr2 turbo alternator upgrade...

Also I think the volts drop when putting it into reverse because of the reverse lights...

I only see mine move with the turnsignals and reverse lights.... and I know my wiring is in bad shape. In both cases though, my headlights do not dim.

I've already started on renovating my electrical system, rebuilt my stock 70A alternator, put in a battery that's actually worth it's price, cleaned all my bulb sockets, replaced ALL my bulbs, ran a ton of new grounds, started replacing old wires in the harness and I just rewired my headlights last night... You wouldn't believe the difference the headlight rewire made, the fogs are next.
