I know it's all my decision in the end, but I'd just be curious as to what you guys would do.
I want to buy the HKS twin turbo kit on ebay right now, and it'll cost me about $1075 shipped. If I bought this tho I would be using all of my spending money I have saved up thus far, meaning I would begin at zero again. I make about $200/week and will be working until mid-august so that's about 10 pays.
$2000 - [($12.95*3)+455]
=$1506.15

So I could have that if i didn't spend any but I spend on food and other random shit so I would probably only have $500 or so maybe by the end of the summer for spending. I want to know would you guys buy the twin turbo kit, or keep the money and not be broke for a couple weeks.

Ahaha you are all stereotypical car enthusiasts! I was hopeing I'd get some mixed feelings like those more financially motivated to have money for random occurances than blow it all on some turbos that'll sit on my engine for a long time.

well is this the best idea for you right now? What if something happens to your car? For example you blow a head gasket or something along those lines. Can you afford to fix it by other means so that you still have transportation?

do you have all of the supporting mods fur the turbo? What good is a turbo that you do not have the fuel for?

Well just to lay down the ground level for you guys, sorry I didn't earlier I expected everyone to know me. I have no car, just an engine right now, so no car-related expenses to worry about. All i would worry about is not having any money to do anything, and possibly going into college with $1075 less free spending money.
I just tried findign the kit, and it's not listed anymore, so someone must have bought it today! I wonder who will be running it, oh well. I'm sure some of you saw it, the manifolds had green paint on them for some reason, and they were 2 ihi turbos with internal gates. The manifold was 2 pieces.

I know you love your car and everything, but it makes much more financial sense to spend that money and use it to further yourself. That way you can make even more money and not have to worry so much about spending such a small amount.

And believe me you'll want that spending money to have in college.

I come from a land down under
I'm firmly in the "Make more Money" camp on this Eric!

As you said you don't have the car yet so you can afford to wait and maybe find a better deal as a lot of Mk3 guys are now starting to get serious there will be some killer deals available for their current gear.

In the past I've busted my self totally building cars and believe me 2 minute noodles aren't that nice after a few months! ;)

Save your money. Your priorities will probably change when you go to college, especially if you live at college. I find that the hardest part about saving money is not spending on little things; a magazine here, fast food there, a vending machine drink once or twice--it all adds up to real money[/] that you could spend on school, or buying a mint supra chassis, or an unforseen emergency situation.

Just last month I had to pass up an aluminum radiator and the floor mat group buy because I was a fool with my money--spending it on little things here and there, and before I knew it--POOF!!--gone.

Aslong as you can still afford to pay your bills and have a life go for it cause living paycheck to paycheck sucks.

Or if you live with your parents then spend all your money cause then you have mommy and daddy to catch you when you fall.

I tried that, and well.
they let me fall, and didnt even help me back up, was a big disappointment.
but a good lesson,
Lesson learned.
