I've been asking alot of questions and have found a supra locally that will need ALOT of work but i think it worth restoring. Dash and interior electronics work fine, targa doest leak and seals good, all seat are totally shot, headlines is good, left light motors needs replacement, left fender needs to be replaced or pulled out, finally the car needs a damn good paint job but otherwise body is str8 for the age with just minor dings minus the left fender. what do you think i should offer..?? he needs the car gone asap or it will be abandoned, so thats kinda working for me. pics below.

i paid $500 for a car in similar condition with a BHG, so hows the motor and dont pay over $1,000

to bad its an auto, itll still be fun, but if he needs to get rid of it offer him a lowball price, start low and work your way up. Is $500 to much? does it run and drive ok, how many miles, whats the blue book?

This car is also an 89'. Engine has Rod knock. Owner before last totally rebuilt the head thinking it was lifter tick. i was thinking 400-500 hundred. I'm still confused if i should build the 7M or go 1J....choices, choices, choices. This guys is also throwing in a rebuilt ct26 that he acquired and the stock turbo is in amazing shape also.

Think its worth the effort?.. throw in some racing seats, rip the back out and call it a day.

I would maybe give him $400... If anything, you could part it out and get your $400 back, IF the project becomes to big...

edit: if the car runs, and it pulls strong, then yeah, maybe more money... It's not bad looking... I thought it was an NA, missed the turbo badge, lol... Could be a nice project, for sure...

Tail light in the window: shit... hmmm... 87s have the rectangular ones in the spoiler... The 88s have the ones in the spoiler too, but they're not rectangular... My 86.5 has hers in the window, but sh'e not turbo, so no spoiler... maybe the early 87s had them in the window...

no i think nothing over 1000. unless you going to totally disassemble and then reassemble with new everything there could be alot of supprises in there. but i do agree with you, there is a nice supra in there somewhere.

I've already price an IPT auto build, good for well over 500.....THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HELP.

She's gonna be a beauty when she's done. JDM ma70 front bumper, 18x8's in the front and 18X9.5 in rear, putting 6-700 on the ground and a new jet black paint job. SEX ON WHEELS....since i cant afford a fucking mkiv. lol

anything worth a crap is gonna take effort unless you dump a load of cash into a pristine one. if you get it,you'll be taking everything apart,and learning about your car. The paint has no effect on how the car runs. Check the motor,check for leaks,but if you plan on replacing the motor,screw what i just typed.
check the chassis,check for warped or bend pieces.

ya i wouldn't pay more then $1000 for that either.... just the fact he couldn't be bothered to clean the car and put some wax on it just shows how little he cares for it, i'm sure he wants it gone ASAP.

i'd also pull the codes to see if there are any other issues hiding in the computer, and check the mileage matches with carfax.

Decision is made, picking her up next weekend...she'll be sitting why i gather ALL the engine and internal parts..until then body and interior will be worked.

I will be doing the body work myself, bondo-ing dings and removal of bad paint, JDM from bumper and drifter JDM wing, seats replaced, and tails replace with 89+ tails.

Umm, lets see what she looks like next summer...wish me luck
