Should I get a flywheel

Another Urban Myth I'd like to see die! 
In the old days when I built my Twin Turbo 4V Toyota V8 you couldn't buy a flywheel to suit so I got 2 x Auto Flex plates machined the ring gear off one then welded them together and bolted a Steel Friction surface on for the Clutch.
It worked perfectly was light weight and DIDN'T generate strange magnetic fields nor did it require the motor's internal balance to be changed as it was 0 balanced just like our 7M's are!
