Shipping something to Australia

hey guys , firstly im from perth, western australia, 6028. I just bought a brake kit of a bloke in Oklahoma City, OK for $850 usd +150 shipping which i thought was an absolute bargain.

now the seller has got a quote to ship the items internationally which were around the $600 USD mark which he isnt happy to cover the unexpected $450extra which is fair enough

is their anyone here that might be able to recomend a company for this seller to use? im guessing the package would be around the 70 lbs mark and measure 15" x 11"x11" (is a 355mm stoptech brake kit)

i have no idea how much it will cost by sea but dont really want to wait 10 weeks for these brakes so im more then happy to pay alittle extra (150 ish) to get the brakes sent by air in a reasonable time frame (under 2 weeks).

I paid like $110 to ship a set of coilovers from MA to canada a while back. Only like 1000 mi, and no overseas, International shipping sucks, I avoid it at all costs. I know this isnt what you wanted to hear, sorry mate.

i remember paying 300 usd to ship a complete 4 cylinder head from america to australia and that was express. rocked up in 3 days time. was pretty impressed.

(this is going back 4-5 years ago now and dont know who they used)

shipping quotes vary wildy, even for small stuff... i think usually USPS or FedEx come out cheaper... .I think driftmotion use FedEx for the stuff i get off them, cos it's cheap and quick...

ok.. just checked fedex and usps...

fedex want US$535 for International economy and US$710 for International express

and usps want $360 for a 66lb package (which is the limit for a priority mail international package to australia) or $615 for a 70lb package on 'global express guaranteed'

Most brake kits I ship to Australia ship for between $200 and $350 but I have had a few go for more. My front 13" and rear 12.9" kits are very close to 60 lbs each. Front 14.25 kits are a bit heavier.

I will agree, Shipping quotes do vary wildly even for big stuff.

I always use USPS for international shipping for fear of UPS and FedEx coming back at me for customs charges. I have heard of it many times, but it has never happened to me with USPS.

u get special rates arz??

No but I quote each customer on each shipment and tell them its only good for 2 weeks, I have been burned before. I have recently shipped a rear and 2 fronts and I cant remember what shipping was, again, it has varied wildly.

FedEx and UPS charge those rates because when it goes overseas, it ALWAYS will go air. Only way to get a sea container is to actually buy a containers worth of space.
