hm, so the ugly plastic cover is removeable? i really wanna take that off and make the shifter the same length but in metal to make a lamborghini-style look alike shifter.

i got mine off ebay a while ago and it was pretty cheap. ive never had a problem shifting either(i drive agressive all the time, cant help it.....). just look a lil harder online and i bet youll find it.
I ran a 1 piece short shifter with a local built Dellow short throw mod in my W58 for some time but it annoyed me as at certain speeds it hummed (must have forgot the words) I changed over to a SS V2 Short shift and the hum went away!
When I installed the Tremec I was a little concerned as it uses a 1 piece shifter but it doesn't hum at all so it appears to be a W58 thing!

Hey IJ, what happened to your SS V2 Short shifter?........ Oh thats right I bought it! It beats all shifters hands down. Smooooth, quiet, short, and no viabrations!
As for the smoke, go the BHG! mine was black smoke with blue smoke and some hints of white. So I rebuilt the turbo and am doing a MHG swap right now. yippee
