My starting was intermittent too, sometimes when cold, but more often when hot. I cleaned every terminal there was, battery, ground, starter wire... it was only when I installed the new relay that the problem was 100% gone. I recommend trying that before you try a new starter. So in order try to first clean all your connectiones, 2nd install a new relay like in the diagram above, and lastly, a new starter. (P.S. I also soldered new ends onto my main starter cable because it was looking old and green with corrosion)

well starter contacts would be alot cheaper then replacing the starter, i might have a spare starter laying around.. maybe i will mak a right up on replacing these contacts so people aren't affraid of doing it..

ne ways, next tim it happens tap on the starter with a ratcher / hammer and see if she starts up if she doesn't or wont do it as frequently , then realy ,

either way, we might be havin a bit of a dissagrence on what the actual problem might be, but non the less we have all had small problems and contribute good information about cranking problems with the soup.

It's the starter contacts, either swap them out or get a different starter. See if maybe its a starter from an automotive store, and see if maybe they can defect it out, My friend had this problem and had Advance defect it out.

its a bitch aint it tom

happened to me a while back when i was on my way to work,

just check your connections first, wiggle your grounds and smack your starter with a long extension. it'll get you by untill you source a new starter.

my $$ is on a dying starter selenoid. I'd just change it but i warn you, it sucks ass to change that thing. i have a brand new starter in my basement minus the selenoid.

yes your battie is not as good as it was befor you have crotionn issue some were cause the reson why it take so long is it building up chargers to spin the starter so the best bet to do is pop a multy meater on the stater power wire and see how much it drops

i have this on my car since my battie is in the back i have build up chage to spin my starter

aka cheak your starting circat oh yae cheka for water in your battie as well

I'm having almost this EXACT problem. My starter is fairly new. Part of my problem was the loose wiring on my igniter, replaced it, but it still does it. So I cleaned off my battery terminals and now she's doing it even more! Try cleaning the terminals, it seemed to help somewhat, for like a week haha. I think I'm going to replace my contacts since that seems to be the general census here.
