Ok so heres the deal. My family runs a coffee shop. This girl comes in regularly, is smoking hot and seems to like me. So she came in on saturday, i found my testicles and asked her for her number. It went well, she wrote down her number and left smiling. seems like a win to me.
So i give her a call tonight around 730 to try and set up a date. Someone answers the phone and i immediately know its not her, but the voice sounds familiar. Then i realize im talking to her mother. She tells me i just missed her and asks if i want to leave a message. so i leave my name and number just to be polite.

anyways, ive asked alot of girls for their number and ive gotten cell numbers, wrong numbers, and flat out shutdowns, but never has a girl given me her home number till now. I know shes a college grad with a 9-5 so i feel as though she has a cell phone.

Has this ever happened to anyone else and how did it turn out? it seems strange to me but maybe its just me. anyways im a little thrown by it and would love to hear some oppinions

My wife and I have cell phones, but no home phone. I imagine a college grad with a new job, one with sense who lives at home [maybe trying to save money] and does not have a huge social life, might be smart to not waste their money on something they don't need.

In this day and age, it would be a bit of a shocker to find someone without a cell phone. Hell, kids nowadays get stuff I didn't even dream of.

Maybe you got yourself an old fashioned one?

Nothing seems fishy so far. :dunno:

If she was trying to blow you off, no way she'd give you the hotline to talk with her mom, lol.

Maybe tell her you were surprised to talk to her mom next time you see/talk with her. Make sure to let her know that her mom sounded very nice and you hope you made a good first impression. ;)

Good luck. :)

I had a cell phone before, for work. After I quit the job, I left the cell behind. I enjoy some of the conveniences, however I find them very annoying.

Especially when others are using them while I'm doing something with them.

Although nothing is worse than texting! WTF is that crap? Total crap.

Anyways, I'm probably going to get a cell phone again soon, but I'm just saying, not everyone has one, haha. If I'm not at home or at work (both of which have a phone), I'm out and about, doing things. That is not a time I want to be taking phone calls.

One place I find texting to be particularly useful is when you don't have a shopping list and need to pick up a few things while out, spur of the moment. Wife texts you a list, you are in business. I HATE having to go back out when I just got home from work. Would rather pick it up before I get home.

I hate checking voicemails when all that they convey is a simple, "Hey, can you get this while you're out?" or "Call me when you get this" or anything else short and sweet that could have just as easily been translated via a text message that takes me literally 4 seconds to pull out my phone, check and put away my phone. Maybe 15 seconds if I need to respond. As opposed to voicemails which take me at least 60 seconds to get through and maybe more if I have a message that "will be deleted from my mailbox" because it is expired.... ugh, lol.

I find txt messaging to be a very efficient means of informal communication.

Though I will concede that most of it is not crucial, but rather convenient. But hey, what the hell is a cell phone for if not convenience?

People try to read way to much into things imo. Sound like the start of something promising.
