In march i ordered a shaftmasters singlei piece driveshaft for my 1990 supra automatic with 7M-GTE.

Car has been in the garage for a few weeks now with some mods slowly being done. today he modified A340E (pressure increased) gearbox went in and when installing the driveshaft (it slid into the gerabox fine) it turned out the DS was a few inches too long.

I rechecked and i did indeed order this driveshaft:
> Name Code Qty Each Options
> -----------------------------------------------------------------------
> Aluminum Driveshaft Supra-MK3-Turbo 1 349.99
> Toyota Supra MKIII
> 1989-1990 Turbo Automatic
> & 1986-1992 Turbo Manual

Both gearboxes are the same length.

Thye are not, the automatic and manual driveshaft are both different. It looks like they sent you the wrong driveshaft. Call them and see what they say. It was a mistake on their part, not yours. They should give the good customer service and pay for return shipping return and shipping back to you.

Can you verify this discrepancy? Did you get a reply from them? I also have a 90 auto turbo and interested in purchasing one. Thanks.

Only the rear halfs are the same, which makes all 3 ds different.

Then there are 3 front halfs.

R154 5-speed Turbo
W58 5-speed N/A
A340E Automatic Turbo and N/A

The yoke that goes into the transmission is the same size on the R154 and A340E, however the shafts are different lengths.

I called shaftmasters and they said to measure a total of 43 inches from center of U joint to center of U joint. That would be the correct length for the automatic one. This is the distance i measured yesterday. Will try to bolt it up again this weekend.

After removing the dustcap as recomended by shaftmasters it still wouldn't fit. Held them side by side and it's pretty obvious why.

^yikes. Time for a return hopefully at their expense. If anything its logical to think the stock DS would be slightly longer than a 1 piece aftermarket since its not traveling in a straight line.

After mailing back and forth a bit their conclusion was that somehow i had an older auto type under the car which has a shorter shaft than the later ones.

I paid for shipping it back and they sent me a shorter one back which fits perfect.

Its actually pretty close to straight when the car is on the ground.

Driveline angle does not change, with the car off the ground.

So, its pretty close to straight, at all times.

When I had my 91 automatice, they sent me a driveshaft that was too long. I immediately called the guy, who was very cool btw, he told me to measure from the diff to the transmission. I gave him that measurement and he had another one sent to my door within a week. He also included a shipping label to return the other one that didn't fit. They have excellent customer service. But they do have some bad measurements on file for some MK3's they should probably look into.
