i heart kind of a slight knocking noise, when i rev the engine the knocking gets louder. its a slight knocking sound. you can only hear it if you really listen to it. i recently found out that i had blown turbo seals, now i think i have really bad shaft play with the turbooz. :rant2: just wanted confirm on it.

If you're sure it's your turbo...that means one (or both) of the wheels is hitting the housing. Need to get that fixed...unless you want metal pieces going into your motor

Ct12a's will either have aluminum going into your engine, or nice dust comming out your down pipe.

doesnt the intercooler block all that from going to the engine? i just need a confirm of what shaft play sounds like. i mean it sounds like knocking.the JZ never has rod knock! its because its the engine made by god himself!! anyways if anyone could confirm this

Depends on how big the pieces are...you could be shaving aluminum off the inside of your compressor housing.
I wouldn't count on the IC to stop it.

what are the chances of shaft play on the ct12a? *the 1st generation ct12a* the motor has about 30-40k on the it and the turbos the same. i guess you could say i was boosting pretty hard with them, but does blown turbo seals effect the other parts of the turbo, such as the turbine and such.

time to post in the WTB section. *wtb: ct12a*

Take off the compressor intake hoses and wiggle the shaft. If it moves side to side or front to back - YOU have shaft play. ;-)

The problem with the ct12A's turbine is its ceramic. If it does touch the turbine housing, chances are it chipped. Unlike a "rub" from a inconel turbine, the chip throws the balance out must faster.

Yes, IC stops some pieces, but smaller one's or even dust can pass through it ;) If you do have shaft play with ticking noise - change your turbo's as soon as possible, otherwise your engine is in danger. U might as well just go single ;)

I had a big GT40 have a bad thrust bearing and rub the housing. It makes a nice loud harmonic screeching noise, not ticking. Think of nails on a chalkboard, VERY loud.

CT12A blades are a ceramic alloy, turbine and compressor side, not "steel". You'll shatter them like an egg and destroy your engine if the compressor side lets go.

I can upgrade your ct26 and I just installed our manifold with Tim on his 1jz last night. We couldn't get it running becuase there was more to be done to complete the swap, but he liked the manifold a lot and exerything fit just fine. He had a different downpipe I had not seen before, but it did come out exactly where it should for the catback. I'll have the pics up tonight.

Thats a death whine. It has very few hours to live.

Ct12A TURBINE blades are ceramic. The compressor wheels are aluminum.
