setting the cps

Well I read shaeffs write up on how to set the cps, and I was looking at the picture with the paint mark on the rotor of the cps, and I noticed that mine does not have that. Should I just go off the picture without the paint mark and just look at the position of the rotor or is there another way to do it.

You need to line up the matchmarks on the shaft with the mounting braket.

Is it those painted marks shown in the pic or are there actually engraved marks
