Seriously now, how heavy is a mk3 turbo?

I know I want a mk3 for several reasons. But all my friends are trying to talk me out of it because they all have light a** 240's/srt-4's which zoom around town. They say that the supras are one of the heaviest import cars made, I owned a 3kgt vr4 so I'm doubting that very much. But how heavy are they?? How much HP does it usually take a Supra (7mgte) to get into the 12's??
Thanks Ken

my car was 2 tons (4k lbs) measured at the landfill (they said their scale is acurate to +/- 20 lbs). i had three 60 lbs bags in the hatch plus me (165) plus my bro (175). so minus all that and you get 3480 lbs with out driver and spare tire. my car is an 87 turbo targa.

turbo targa auto with full leather interior, one 150 lb passenger no spare tire and 1/4 tank of gas.

yea they are heavy but they will lay down ALLOT more torque than your 240 and srt4 friends will. That inertia might be a bitch in town light to light but once you hit open road you turn into their god. I tell my 240 and dsm friends to likem.

once you get a 7mgte supra, do the proper maintenance like the head gasket and torque settings right.

a 57trim turbo for about $500
a 4.3 lsd diff if you can get one
and the standard bpu+ stuff that would add up to about $400-$800
maybe an safc for peice of mind and you can make it into the 12's for allot less than your friends can.

I say get the supra don't let your friends talk you out of it. Do what americanjebus said about the maintenance and peformance upgrades and you wil be zooming around town too.

Agree! Dare to be different. Then pump some serious HP (not to mention alot more torque than them as well) into it and show them what zooming is! All the while you can feel safe and secure in a car thats built like a tank and can take a beating!

Average weight is roughly 3500lbs as you can see.

Now, take that for what you will. Heavy? maybe.
BUT...

Take a look at some supras that have been in hard front end collisions. Now look at the interiors. Just about every single MK3 that I've seen that's been hit hard in the front, the interior is unscathed. A.K.A the passenger compartment. Be heavier, but feel safer. SRT-4's don't hold up well in accidents.

rumptis your sick is fu**in hilarious....... your friends are retarded.... i have never lost to an srt-4 or 240 or dsm.... i had a dsm as a daily for a while and all i could think about when i was driving it was how much i wished it was the supra.... driving dsm's and srt4's is nothing special it gets lame after 5 mins..... driving 240's is a lot of fun but imo the supra is by far the funnest. and you can rub it in their face after you destroy them ....... "wait i beat you easily by 3 lengths and my car weighs 1000 LBS more than yours..... ouch"

I haven't weighed mine yet, but just wondering..........why would you go weigh your car with things like bags of sand, extra rear ends, passengers, or other extra pieces of added weight in the car??????????????
