I would only say for temporary. Considering the proper gasket from Toyota is only a couple bucks. And seeing that it's a pain the take off with the stock drain. Better to do it right the first time.

If you have the correct material nothing wrong with making your own... it's NOT Rocket Surgery... ;)

Agreed, it's only a punch setup if you have the proper sheet of gasket material..

You could probably cut one out with a razor blade but it won't be near as pretty.

my email wasn't working yesterday, couldn't upload my pics

here's how i got the studs out without doing any damage to the engine

first, i went out and bought a footlong. not the sandwich... a footlong 1/8inch drill bit ! -i couldnt get clearance for my drill, because of the oil return pipe/oil filter holder in the way
and some screw removal bits.

I centerpunched both the studs.
I drilled a hole about 1/2inch deep into both studs.
I used those reverse direction tapered bits, so I could unscrew the stud from the block without damaging the block!

I cleaned off that nasty liquid-gasket and I'm now impatiently waiting for my new gasket to come to toyota dealership nearby :)

I also made sure to cover all openings before drilling! dont want metal flakes in my oil system

I hope I didnt damage the pipe/flange in my initial attempts to remove the nut.
Its a really minor dent/scratch, think it should be ok? A new pipe is like 370 bucks...

Also just for further reference, any time you are doing anything near the dipstick tube hole in the block, plug the hole so you don't get any unwanted contaminants falling into the oil crankcase.
