Sensor in question

On the soarer 1JZ, there is a sensor right below the intake manifold, that has two vacuum lines going into it, and an electrical connector attached to it. On any drawings for vacuum hoses, it is signified as part 17650E. Any idea what it is for? My son broke off one of the plastic hose connections, and I am wondering if I can just get rid of it.

It's the charcoal canister purge control valve. You don't need it if you don't have a charcoal canister (as in, if you eliminate it). If you have to pass a strict visual emissions inspection then you'll need it. If you search around the junk yard I'm sure it's close enough to one that's on a camry or something that you can pick one up cheap.
