security system problem, could use a few helpfull words

i have woken up the past couple nights to my headlights flickering, yet again. with in a half hour they went off twice. sure it only does it for a few minutes then it stops and they go back down. but its irritating that the car does it and i have to disconnect my battery every time i get out of the car.

if anyone has this problem can you please just tell me the perma-FIX for this? :: angry ::

I have heard of a couple different ways but what I did was take the theft deterrent computer out, which is right up under the driver side dash. It is a black box up above the steering column. Go from bottom up. I tried taking the instrument cluster out and going from top down. Was I wrong. I believe their is one bolt holding it and then slide it towards the passenger side to get it out of the track. Unplug it and find the blue with orange strip and put that wire to a good frame ground. You problems will be over. Throw that piece of crap away.

Here is another link you can go by to disable the hood switch if you choose to go that route.

disconnect the hood latch sensor. takes about 2 minutes and will disable the alarm

You can certainly try those things but based on the symptoms it doesn't sound alarm related.

thanks guys. ill try the hood thing first if that doesnt solve it then im going after that stupid box in the dash.
