The one night I leave my car on the driveway of my garage because the 2j motor is taking up the Supras spot at present (Garage is about 30metres up the road from my house)...some thieving little scum tried to steal the car last night

I went to get in it as normal and the key wouldnt fit in the lock....then I saw the damage and swore so loudly I think people 5 miles away heard!!

The lock is totally gone.
and the trims by the window are dented and ruined too....at the minute Im having to unlock it from the passenger side (good ole central locking!)

Well, Im so p*ssed off its unbelievable. A sign of the times in the Uk Im afraid (and everywhere for that matter :nono:)

Anyway, some really kind guys off my local forum have offered me the parts I need :icon_bigg
Thanks guys if your reading.

But Im curious, the lock barrel I have been offered may well come with a key (I hope) but I want to get it rekeyed to work with my original Toyota main key...

So that all my locks work off the same key as before...

is this possible? Any pointers that I need to tell the locksmith if it is possible?
or can Mr T do it for me? (for a nutcracker price I imagine)

Thanks

ps// car is now secured big time and I am on sentry duty. But I dont think they will ever return.....

Thanks guys, yes, it was lucky that 'only' the lock, handle and window seal trim got damaged I suppose.

I was most angry that I missed them and didnt catch them in the act :naughty:

Agreed, a gun would have been nice!!!
But I would have still bared arms at them,.....my bare arm with my fist on the end of it :biglaugh:

keithH- i agree totally. They made a crap job of trying to get in the car...which annoyed me even more.

Tun_x - The funny thing is, I actually believe you :aigo::icon_bigg

insurance claim if you can and have the rest of the locks re-keyed.

you are lucky they were just some high punk kid's and didn't put much thoguht into it.

in my neibor hood the kid's have been cought with 100 or more different car keys , yeah thats right they had been collecting keys they find and they start checking car's till they find a key that works.

the locksmith should be able to key the locks in such a manor no stock key should work at all, even when the lock starts to wear in ten years.

most imports have a matching ignition key and door locks install a kill and make sure the ignition don't match the doors. They can remove the door lock and make a key on the spot.

My boss' Lexus GS300 has similar damage to the driver's side lock cylinder. He's not entirely sure when it happened, because he always uses the keyless entry. Fortunately there wasn't as much damage to the trim...

Well, at least they didnt' get into your car. My car had the window shattered this fall. Stereo gone. They didn't open the door, either, so it didn't set off the alarm. :( Now I have a glass break sensor.

thats not too bad but

alot better then what they did to my car.

They jammed and broke the p/s lock. Then they pryed at the door skin fucking up the paint and the door. then they pryed at the mirror trying to pop it off but was just breaking the plastic. Then, they just broke the p/s window but didn't steal anything or the car.

Wow thats horrible to see. Sorry to see that man.
Makes me feel uneasy about my car sitting on my driveway every night.
Good luck.

At least you still have your car mate!

Mine was stolen and missing for 2 and a half weeks... Got her back, and it took me 9 months to get her running again, and the locks are still fked up.

Definitely agree with having 2 x keys (one for door and one for ignition), as well as having a switch for the fuel pump.

Thanks guys and gals

I discovered this morning in the light of day that they have managed to chip the window as well with their amateur efforts at getting the door open :nono:
Aaarrrghhhhhh :evil2:
