Hi guys im currently running 285's on tt wheels in the rear. when i make left turns the tire seems to rub. it doesnt do it when i make right turns. I'm running kyb's with stock springs. what could it be? also, when the car is cold and when i drive it @ 10+mph it feels like the rear wheels are out of balance... the car starts to bounce slightly like the tire isnt a pefect circle. when the car starts to warm up a bit more it drives perfectly fine. thanks

You should see a ring on the outside edge of the tire where it is rubbing, and take the wheel off and look in the wheel well to see where it was rubbing. 285 is about a 10mm wider tire then I would have suggested. If you keep driving like that you may damage your nice tires. You can drive a back wheel up on a curb to compress the suspension and see where it's rubbing, or have a friend jump up and down in the trunk.

back in the old days when we fogeys used to run bias ply tires...(do any of you even know what those are?)...they used to get out of round slightly at night when they got real cold. Once they warmed up they would stop thumping. Im pretty sure modern radials arent supposed to do that. Unless its really cold where you're at. I suppose its possible to temporarily "flat spot" a tire overnight.

as for the rub, you should not only see it on the tire, you should be able to find a spot that is black with rubber or is all shiny from having the paint rubbed off by the tire. If its in the lip you can roll it, if its on the inside isnt going to be a whole lot you can do about it....short of buying smaller tires.

i went out to patch the nail on the tire today and i found where its rubbing. its nothing to worry about. So you guye really think its just a flat spot on the tire thats causing the thumping?-Steve

My rear tires have a "wobble" effect to them right away in the morning...Feels like a wheel is going to fall off (not a circle)...but after about 20 seconds, it is fine. Thank you -5 degree temperatures.

Flat spots on Radials.......FTW?
