My car ran perfectly fine, that is until last night. Last night I installed 550cc PTE injectors and a lexus afm. Got it put back together and did about 8 pulls adjusting my boost gauge, everything running right. Then during one of my pulls the car hesitated (not fuel cut) and started running real crappy like on 4 cylinders. When the car was not under load I could get it to run right after about 3-4k RPM, but under load and at lower rpm it still missed with this weird smell almost like a burning clutch. So I unhooked the battery and let it sit over night, went out and started it and everything was fine for about 2 minutes until I started driving it and the problem returned. I can still get it to run right (bud not idle) when I rev it, holding the throttle at a constant angle I can hear it miss.

I am scared that I damaged my good running motor somehow, where do you gurus suggest I look first? Any troubleshooting ideas?

BTW
HKS Metal headgasket

Damn, see I tried to avoid this and posted a thread in the celica supra forums asking if it was safe to add some boost until I got my A/F gauge (which i got today). They stated it was safe since the Lex 550 upgrade makes it run so rich that I didn't have to worry about running to lean. Dammit, they may have given me some bad advice!

Yes, all things being ideal, no way you went lean and killed it. First thing first, check for codes.

Hell, might have been running too rich and fouled the plugs...

My car ran ridiculously rich on nothing but the Lex and 550s. Like, black smoke rich. Note: each car is different, so those results aren't always applicable to another car. But generally, that combo runs rich out of the box.

UPDATE: *FIXED*!!!!!!!!

p1687154_1.jpg

The higher PSI's blew the homemade junk coupling in between the cold side IC and the 3000 intake! Would have found this sooner but have been so busy with school, sigh of relief!!!

Now.... Do I need an AFPR?

For one to run that you need to have something to control your fuel like a safc or a neo. two you need a afpr. Also the truck in the back ground is my grandmothers and is at 375 hp. Might look gay to you but id beet it would impress you man. Do not hate with all your 5 post man

Thanks for the info, I do have an SAFC II but not hooked up yet, but I do need an AFPR? Any recommendations? Also disregard my post about the truck, I was rather drunk and upset over the perceived end of the world problem with my Supra. I am new here, but its because I spend almost all my time at celicasupra, I just learned of this site!

I also have a wideband, so it sounds all I am lacking is an AFPR. I am learning about all this stuff as I go, and have a pretty good understanding of everything so far, but could you please explain why the AFPR is important? Not that I don't think it is neccesary, you guys know your stuff and I trust you, but I just need to understand the system!

Mods
30k rebuilt motor
1000 mile rebuilt head
hks metal head gasket
3" rabid chimp DP and full 3" exhaust (no cat)
walbro 255
550cc injectors
Lex AFM
SAFC II (not hooked up yet)
AEM tru-boost
AEM yuego wideband
K&N intake
raptor racing 6 puck feramic clutch
Weir performance 3.73 diff with weir upgraded maxgrip LSD clutch kit and drilled carrier that excepts 1 and 2 piece drive shafts
Fidenza Flywheel

So what should be my next power adder after the AFPR and professional tuning, 60-1?

We have almost the same mods, just different brands here and there. If you get the AFPR... match it with a Walbro fuel pump. After that get the SAFC hooked up. Once done you can adjust the AFPR's flow/pressure, and tune the rest with the SAFC. GL !!
