my pulsation dampener is leaking from the top lip and was wondering if i removed it and welded the top lip closed, if it would affect anything and help with the leak. or where could i get a replacment locally? autozone? checker?

thevork - just so you know, if you remove the EGR you risk detonating under certain conditions, please dont say its ok to remove stuff when you obvisouly dont understand what it does.

if you wanna know exactly what it does, and where it kicks in, JDub will gladly enlighten you.

FPD isn't part of EGR :D

Anyway, nobody seems to study what the FPD does, but like the EGR it's assumed it's not needed...when in reality it does serve a purpose or else Toyota wouldn't have spent the money to put one on.

Don't weld it. It's totally mickey-mouse, plug it if you want, but don't weld it.

FPD works the same way the air chambers/water capacitors in your plumbing at home work, they cushion the shock of sudden fuel pressure changes. As an example the dampers in your home plumbing eliminate the "banging" sound (waterhammer) when you turn on and off a water outlet. Esentially the fuel damper eliminates shock on fuel system components in the same manner.

im refering to your post in the link that you posted up. at the end, you posted some bad info... and since your telling people to go read that, i didnt want them thinking that removing the egr was an awesome thing to do.

and if your so familiar with whats its for, why did you even say what you did?

it's quite common to remove the egr from the 7m. the japspec 7m's even came without them.

but let's not go that much offtopic ok ? ;)

He means bypass it with a fitting. I don't agree on it being "mickey mouse" as it's recommended for when you have so many injectors on a rail to stop fuel pressure fluctuations.

Lots of people toss em, so you can probably get a used good one for cheap. Or of course there is the dealer...

uh, no, if you JB weld it, worst case is you burn your car to the ground.

I guess you'd still be going to Toyota, though - to buy a new car!
