SAFC2 vs NEO

I've searched for this but I've found no comparisons. I'm looking for an AFC and I like the AFC NEO, but I see a lot of people trying to trade down to the SAFC2. It's mostly DSM guys, but is there some sort of problem with the NEOs?

yea if you get a new one it will be fine but the firmware must be updated on the older neos. something about a glitch in the mapping for the karmen vortex. ill post a link if I find it but its documented.

With your info I found out about it:

NEO reprogramming criteria:
1. Using NEO on Karman sensor car (Mitsubishi and some Toyotas)
2. Last five digits in the serial number is smaller than 13800
(sample serial number: AFC4 UN06-13726)
3. There is no Karman compatibility sticker on the back

You can call apexi tech support to find out more about where to send it to be reflashed.

the safc 2 also monitors knock and you can data log if you get the rite interface

Neo can make adustments every 50 RPM, where the SAFC2 is every 100. It also can control your V-Tach, and change colors.

I found out from 87witmoreboost that there was a firmware update to make it function properly with Karman intake. More info here:

Update, version 1.104 to work properly with Karman signal

The program version can be checked by powering on the unit, and navigating to “etc” > “Program Ver”.
