By brick do you mean heavy? I ordered a NEO last night from the same guy you got yours from BLACKMKIII so since I live in Canada I should see it in a week or so since I got it shipped to a place just south of the border. I was talking to a local shop in town that does tuning and they charge $200 an hour for unlimited pulls etc. Does that sound like a reasonable price as I'm new to the whole tuning side of things?

$200 for an hour with unlimited pulls is not bad. Local guys charge about $185 / hour to tune the safc/emanage blue or any other piggy backs.
SAFC / Neos are usually tuned within an hour as they are quite simple as long as there are NO BOOST LEAKS. or any other problems.
Make sure to check for Boost leaks, oil leaks, plug conditions etc before putting car on a dyno.

Thanks for the good info. I have a set of NGK plugs for the car that I will be putting in hopefully sometime this weekend as well as my new KOYO Rad. Also picked up a narrowband AFR gauge today. Does anyone have a picture of someone that has installed a gauge where the cigarette lighter is? I have the pillar pod for my boost and oil pressure and am trying to think of some place handy to mount the AFR gauge. Thanks!

Here's some pictures I took just last night. I have my NEO installed, but still have to get it tuned. I don't have a radio in the dash yet, but here's what the NEO looks like with a Greddy Profec B and an HKS Type-0 Turbo Timer. The NEO fits the ash tray hole perfectly without even Velcro or any other type mounting. And the best thing is, it has enough cable left behind it, I could probably snatch it out of the dash, and stand outside the car with it.

Haha! Yep!

I need to get mine tuned as well, right after I install the AFPR.

BLACKMKIII tell me how you installed the boost gauge in the cigarette lighter area! I want to do that with the narrowband AFR gauge. Did you just cut a 2 1/16 hole?

blackMKIII ........is your Volt meter off as well? I see you are showing 11.6 Volts. Mine showed 11.3, while my multimeter showed the battery at 12.07.

Justin......Just cut the backing off of the cig lighter hole. The gauge should fit ferfectly. I had mine like that in my grey car, but I didn't like looking that far down to see it.

If you can get a 2 1/16 hole saw, that's the best. I had to use an air powered grinding wheel because the plastic is a bitch to Dremel.

Yeah, mine too. While cruising I'm only at about 13.6? It matches up with the dash gauge, though. I had a lot of accessories on when I snapped, that picture. :dunno:

This will not stop fuel cut. It may delay it with some tuning. You need a fuel cut defender to do that. Though I don't suggest it. Fuel cut is a safeguard from your ECU. You need real tuning to avoid fuel cut. To get the AFC to avoid fuel cut is foolish.

All others interested in the AFC.

I suggest investing your money in some kind of full stand alone fuel system. The AFC gives limit to the possibilities of what you can really achieve from your car. They aren't all they're built up to be. Be patient and save your money for full stand alone. It's worth the extra effort. The AFC is only a piggy back computer. This is considered child’s play in the tuning department.
Please don't waste your time.

Good Full Stand Alone Systems:
Motec, Haltech, AEM, F.A.S.T., Autronic, Electromotive, Accel, EFI Technology

U can get fairly good tuning with a AFC and AFPR. It does stop fuel cut to some effect. U can add fuel with the AFPR and then remove it with the AFC. On a dyno u can keep adjusting it till u almost hit cut and then u know u got a fairly good tune. Its hard to explain but there is more info somewhere on supraforums.

I know you can tune around it with the system, I just don't like it. Why not just remove it rather than work around it.

Shadow is right, you are working around the stock computer's ability to tune a/f ratio on its own. When you increase boost or increase fuel, the ECU either:

A) Sees that you're boosting too much, and smacks you in the face (Fuel Cut)
B) Doesn't know that you just swapped in 440cc injectors in place of your 370s, and just clicks them along like nothing is wrong.

In case A, you turn up the boost, crank up the fuel pressure, and use the AFC to force the ECU to run leaner because the AFC fools it, by changing the MAP sensor output.

Case B is similar. You fool the ECU into leaning out the fuel to compensate for your bigger injectors.

Is it a bad idea to be fooling the ECU? Probably, if you do it wrong and get to the point where the AFC can't lean it out anymore. But for street driven cars that don't see more than the AFC can handle, it's usually okay.

Now timing correction, that's another story all together...
