wow, that car looks just like mine, hope i never run into anything like that, BUT consider if you was in a newer car of any brand, they might have had to cut you out of it! That supra is is pretty dang tough!

Right tires make the difference. You don't go driving in the rain with racing slicks on, so why do you drive in the snow with summer tires? (like a lot of idiots do).

I've done well in snow with good all season tires, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying studded tires either. Ice doesn't stick too long around here, so...

All seasons are decent, but actual snow tires make a world of difference. A few years back, on my way down the mountain from the ski hill, I was being followed by an SUV running all seasons. On a hairpin, he matched my speed, which was a serious mistake on his part. He slid across two lanes and off the side of the road. I stopped (easily), made sure he was ok, and called him a tow truck.

huh, Sorry if im WAY off here (from texas.... drove on snow ONCE in my LIFE) but if the speed was as low of 15mph and the problem was understeer couldn't you just have rip the E-brake a bit and continued through the corner in a drift? I've done it in my miata in the rain, wen i had it the tires were so bald they were like having racing slicks. driving in the rain one day it started to understeer and i thought i wouldn't make it so i reached for the e-brake and sure enough it broke the understeer and put me in to a drift..... though snow may be a completely different story. ^^"

Anyway, glad to see the car is going to be ok :)

The blue is the portion of the road covered in ice, and the red is my path of travel. Hitting the brakes, or pulling the parking brake would have likely made the car go into a spin. I have owned my MK3 for nearly 8 years, and I wouldn't purposely drive it in bad conditions. The ice on the road was unexpected, but it was there due to shade from the trees.

No, dumb ass, I wasn't even going over 20mph. You must have been sleeping when your teacher covered Newton's laws of motion.
