Well at work we have a "spare" S2000 Engine Start Button Im throwing in my car, I was just wondering whos done it and whats the best way to go about this. I was thinking (obviously) stick it where the cig lighter is, and hook up the ignition wire from the key ignition to it, then tap into the power wire from that, then power and ground for the light Ill use the one thats already present for the ring around the cig lighter... whats everyone think?

not a bad Idea, but theft? I don't know much about the S2000 push start, but it does sound like an extra thing that could help get your car stolen.
Maybe?

I helped my cousin do this to his FD rx7. Took about 25 minutes to install but security should not be a problem. You still have to put the key in and turn it to on and than press the button for the car to start.

That seems a bit useless to me then. If I have to put the key in and turn it anyway why press an extra button? I'd want some kind of fobber set-up that tells the ignition when I'm in proximity like the new Lexus' Cadi's and Vette.

Seems pointless then

Someone was retrofitting a Lexus push-start ignition, but it detects if you are in the car before it will let you start it, i think MkIII Driftking was doing it

I did it ..... I had the button sitting around the house and just did it.

I ran power from the fuse box to the button. The button tapped into the to starter wire(the small one with the plug)

Doesn't really serve a purpose Nix ;)

To me car mods need to make the car better in some way this doesn't it just adds another step to the start up procedure as you already have to turn the key to on.

But it does add to the car ....... Yea maybe it is more cosmetic but its also functional. There is nothing wrong with it. It added to my car pretty well. People notice before they see the SAFC so i guess its one of the reasons people say "ddaaammmmnnnnn this shit is like a spaceship"

What you need is a panal with that requires no key. Seperate switches for fan, fuel, ecu, and ign. Then hide a fuel pump kill switch somewhere out of site.

Does someone have pic's of the button and does the S2K ignition just go to the on postion and not start?
This idea crossed my mind too since I work at honda, but i decided against it for said reasons.

In the S2K, you have to turn the key to on, then push the button to start. The button only sends the starter signal. In that respect (and Ian's) all S2ks are gay because they reqire another step to start. lol

I can take a picture tomorrow. I actually like it, it adds a little something to the car (not just a step haha) I like the cosmetic value. Plus I like when people see extra little things and ask about them. I LOVE custom work and Im bored, really bored
