S.S. Intercooler piping?

The supra is currently down with a bad turbo, and when i replace it i want to redo the piping as well but im on a tight budget. I have a nice new GReddy universal intercooler sitting in my room and im likely going to use a driftmotion ct2657. My problem in the intercooler piping. obviously aluminum is best however I dont have a tig welder or even know how to tig for that matter. I know its not the best option, steel is much heavier than aluminum, but is this at least a reasonable idea, or am i completely off my rocker on this one?

You can use SS for IC piping, IMHO AL is better.

As far as the welding goes.. I thought that CO2 was mainly used in conjuction with fluxcore.. if thats the case. you can use it to weld, but the welds will rust and not look that great. You could paint them, but why use SS in the first place if you're going to paint them?

For MIG and SS, I think your best bet would be the tri-mix and of course SS wire. SS with a MIG takes some getting used to tho..

I probably would paint them b/c i dont expect my welds to be showcar status.

and your probably right about the co2. Ive never used the welder with the tank just used straight flux core, (my dads the welding expert not me) and he said that i would get cleaner welds if i use co2 and he said i could use an old c02 tank that i had from a soda machine.

also i could probably use regular steel seeing as im gonna paint it, i just figured that way if the paint got rubbed off it wouldnt rust.

it will prolly end up being fairly ghetto but i just wanna go fast, not as concerned about looks but i figured steel piping was at least a couple steps up from a pvc operation. lol

I'd just use regular steel.. SS is very sensative to high heat, it will warp and burn through a lot more than regular steel. With CO2 in addition to the fluxcore, the arc will be much hotter, making the burn through even worse... but your dad's right, the CO2 will clean up the fluxcore welds a little bit.
