Running rich, failing emissions

Yep, 10 deg BTDC.

I do have a HyFire IVa ignition box (not installed on the car)....might that help my spark strength in any way?

I'll go take a look at the ISC valve.

Hmmm, like I said, won't idle correctly after full warm up, but seems to be fine when first started. Could definitely be the lowers of the ISC valve. If it makes any difference, it does take a few seconds after shutting down to tick.

The ISCV ticking is normal. The thing is, it should idle with just the ISCV supplying the air flow...the TB screw *should* be closed.

Pull the PCV hose from the TB and blow air through it toward the TB...it should be clear per this pic:

I don't think an ignition box is going to do any good with a bad coil.

Already pulled the whole thing apart and cleaned it up when I changed the plugs. I actually had to get new hoses for the PCV pipe, the ones that were on it were silicone, melted on like ROCKS! :p

I'm kinda leaning towards this being spark problem, there's no WAY I'm getting enough spark to ignite everything if I'm not glowing blue/purple/white.

Yeah...that happens ;)
What I wanted to make sure of is the TB orifice for the PCV is clear.

I'm with you on the spark problem...like I said, the idle issue concerns me too.

Yessir. Now, one question I DO have....what is the importance of this big hose running from valve cover no. 2 down to the crank case?

It's part of the PCV...combustion byproducts (mostly water) and any fuel contamination in the crankcase is vaporized by hot oil and sent to the intake plenum to be burned in the cylinders.

When was the last time you changed the oil?

Yesterday, hahah. The reason I ask is because when I took the engine apart to change the head gasket, I cut that hose in two....not to mention it being kinked anyway (cheap heater hose). Would that be of any importance as to what's going on, or just two completely unrelated things?

It has an impact on your HC readings ;)

And, it's a big source of pirate air since you opened a closed system...you need to fix it.

You got that right! Only I'm here because the Dr. is making me...I'm recovering from pneumonia.
My other choice was to be bored in the hospital ;)
