Go to a computer store and let them make you some sort of chip, I did it for my fan and it only cost me a few bucks

^ That'd work. Or he could cut one wire at the relay and connect it to another wire, also right at the relay. That way the fans would run as they do with the key on and then shut down automatically when coolant temperature drops. Ran my car like that for over 20 years...

That was fun, usually after your vague posts i am left thinking WTF,.. is he talking about? Hey i got this one. lol

Definitely a cool mod JJ.

BTW while your link is easier to read the words, for some reason, I find it allot easier to follow Toyota's diagrams. Not sure why though.

I find it easier to use the TWED instead of the diagrams in the TSRM but whatever works is good.

This mod turns the fans on only when coolant temp creeps higher than normal. That usually happens only after the engine is shut down. On my car what typically occurred was the fans would come on 5-10 minutes after shut down and run for 15-20 minutes thereafter. This only happened on very warm days.

In hindsight this may not have been exactly what the OP was looking for. He said "keep" the fans running but without the AC on the fans should never run. In fact my experience has been that after this mod is done if the fans are found to be running when the engine is turned off there's an impending cooling system issue.

lol still lost on what wire to cut or splice to do that, i always wanted to do that, most volvos and hondas do that, after they are off the fan will turn on if it find it a bit hot.

I unplugged the sensor harness and put a toggle switch in place of the senor. The toggle switch was put in my space where TEMS would go if you had it. I did this to turn on my fans whenever I felt like it. I didn't leave them running when the car was off, but I almost always had it on during the summer, regardless of A/C.

I ran it when I ran the A/C, because they didn't automatically come on. As you know. I wanted it on, to make me feel better. :)
