Routing Aristo 2jz harness

OK I've been searching all day and can't find any concrete answer on how to rout the harness of the 2j from a aristo in a mk3. I really don't want to extend the harness. So where is the best place to drill in the firwall for the haness to go thgrough. I heard of some people driling behind the radio and routing it through there but I don't know.

So any one with ideas please help. Pictures are helpful to.

I would extend the harness. Seriously, I have this setup from a previous owner and it is stretched taut basically and still isn't long enough to really go where it needs to go or make it less than a total bitch to work on the ECU and wiring near it. It also found a way to wear into the harness and short a wire on that hole (because it is too tight), which was nice when it stranded me on the side of the road (I have double fuel hose around it this time). It also is a hole right behind the intake manifold and fuel assembly, so if you have any leaks and have anything less than a perfect seal, you will smell gas/oil/hot engine in the car all the time. Even with that hole routing which I have now, I would extend the harness.

I will be replacing the harness and starting over when I get to the point where I'm happy with more serious things. It would be nice to have a marked extension for wiring in other electronics anyway.

I don't know, mine might be a little different being a 1JZ setup or maybe it has other weird factors (never had a car to compare to like this one), but those are my thoughts.

The local Arizona guys do this for all there JZ swaps and have had great success. I understand what you say about the hold letting the smells in and that is true, my remedy was to shove a balled up sock in the hole and get a gromet to cover that and it solved the issue. As for the wiring being tight on the aristo it was no tighter than having a stock ecu in the same location. The harness goes through the hole then up behind the cluster through a little hole into the glovebox by the mounting bar. It is a pain to get in but I dont see why there needs to be much extra harness for working on the ecu. I just pull the cluster, disconnect the ecu and then play with the 3ft of harness that is available. Also de-burring the hole will also help prevent shorts by rubbing into wires.

I see this as a much better option than extending because if you extend then you have to extent the wires in different areas so that you dont get the snake that ate a deer look in your harness. Plus more solder joints can break over time in the harness or short out themselves if they are not covered the right way. Just my thoughts on the topic.

Each have there pro and cons so choice is up to you.

Will be doing this with a 1jz chaser harness within the next 2 weeks along with tucking everything else in the fender wells.

it goes through the hole up behind the cluster then through a hole in the dash into the glove box...I can take pics tomorrow evening if you like as i will have it all torn apart

Mine doesn't reach the stock location, but it may be routed differently than Gurley's. (This is all previous owner work, haven't taken it all apart. I just know it comes through that hole, goes behind the center dash and ends up in the glove box.) My ECU just sits awkwardly in my glove box, I can't close it without modifying (cutting up) the glove box itself.

Take Gurley's advice and maybe it will all be nice like his.

The only problem with Aristo ecu's is that they are huge and do not fit in the stock location for mounting. The harness will reach the stock location, but i have been unsuccessful with mounting the actual ecu so it sits in my glovebox as well :(

edit: Ok here are the pics...harness was a little closer to the gas pedal than i remember but still no problem.

From there the harness goes straight up behind the dash on comes through the back side of the cluster...this is an easy fit.

After that it goes into a little hole behind were the vents go i guess you could say...

This is the view coming into the glove box from the little hole. This is the hardest part and if you have someone with small hands it makes life alot easier to pull through.

From here you can see the left over length of harness...

and this is how big the ecu is and why i cant get it to fit...yes even with the ABS and ETC computers out it still wont fit...

Yes i know my wiring is a mess right now but its under construction and I'm gonna be putting a MAP-ECU in and they white rectangles are the inline resistors for my 550cc injectors.

Hope this is helpful and clears everything up for everyone!
