Definately a good idea. Yet, once I saw your reply, and went downstairs to check up on something.

The muffler I currently have has one entry and 2 exits. I don't know the brand cuz it was already installed when I bought the car 3-4 years ago. Works just fine though.

I couldn't measure perfectly, for a few reasons. 1- The president of the building's committee was lurking around, so I couldn't jack the car up a bit (she hates me), 2- I didn't have my usual helper around to at least hold the measuring tape while I took all the pictures (I had more than what I attached), 3- I was uncomfortable on the rocky pavement, so I stopped trying to get the best pictures I could.

Anyhow, the entry is 3". As for the 2 exits, the tips are way bigger than 3 1/2", as you can see the pictures. Now, thing is, the tips are connected to the main "muffler box" via individual extensions about..... maybe half an inch long. Point is, out of curiosity, I measured (or tried to) these extensions. They were around 2 3/8". Not sure about the exact measure cuz I couldn't get (or wouldn't get!) comfortable enough to measure it perfectly. Definately AT LEAST 2 1/4" in diameter though, so it works!

What I was thinking about doing was to cut out the thicker tips at the end and move the rest of the muffler to where I was going to originally place the Y-pipe (and thus, not even needing one!). Guess it's one problem more solved.

What do you think?

Should I put a tip on it or just polish the tip of the piping?

And if I do go with a tip what shape would look the best?

I'd just grab a piece of stainless about 6" long for a tip. I've never been one for polished or chrome tips, myself... Just raw stainless pipe looks amazing.

i was told by the muff shop that this piping looks like ss when polished abit

i polished a piece that i cut off and it looked good so i took some 300 grit sandpaper sanded abit then re-polished and it looked purtty:love:
