In Israel teachers are allowed to pack guns. Us here in Japan though arent allowed to have them. And guess what? The crime rate is incredibly low. I dont like to think that that may have soemthing to do with the low crime rate but it kinda makes you think doesn't it?

What is the tax rate to import a gun into Japan? Can it be done? What kind of weapons do you have for defence? What can be imported? Or maybe crime rate is low because honor and responsiblity is still high there. What do you think?

There are thousands of "gun control" laws on the books already. They do not effect crime in any way. Crime was not invented after the musket came out.

Which state has a worse violent crime rate? Idaho or New York? Idaho has almost no gun control, New York has everything. Not total crimes, because the population difference will skew the results, but which state has the higher rate?

Availibility of guns is not the main determination of the crime rate. Other factors such as the poverty rate and the culture of the place are much more important.

That's the only part of the OP that I have a problem with, it's baseless and stupid, much like Rosie O'Donnell

I disagree. Remember the school shooting in Pearl, Mississippi? It was halted by an assistant principal with a gun. When shots rang out, the principal retrieved the weapon from his car and confronted the gunman, who quickly surrendered.

If that's baseless and stupid then I guess you would rather have had a bunch of dead kids in Mississippi, right? Why did the gunman surrender? Because the cost of his actions got much higher once he was confronted with deadly force. Raise the cost above what the lunatics are willing to pay and the shootings will happen much less often or never. Taking guns away from law abiding, well trained citizens will LOWER the cost for lunatics who want to kill. There is no law or threat of punishment that will deter a lunatic short of the lunatic's death. Therefore, the emphasis shifts from deterrence to minimizing innocent deaths.

Poverty rate has no effect on the crime rate either.

Crime comes from an evil heart.

And the question was not answered. The left claims more gun control laws will lower crime. Somebody on the left prove it. They can't.

You can't either.

Actually you can.

However if you were interested in facts, you wouldn't make such an amazingly uniformed statement.

Go study up and get back to us when you know something as opposed to just "feeling" it.

The mindset I have always seen is, If I have a gun that will stop someone from stealing.
Which has never been true. Someone having a gun does not deter anyone from taking or killing.
Nick should have left it at crime comes from an evil heart, instead of throwing his political views into it.

Edit: Just so we're clear I have no problems with people owning guns as long as they are responsible with them.

We cant import guns at all here into Japan. Unless you know any sort of martial arts you are basically left to just run to the police. I suppose you could use nunchuck's or ninja stars if you can find them. A lot of the cops here arent even armed with guns either. I imagine some people have stun guns and pepper spray.

YES!!! It's more about how a society views/tolerates violence and what amount of respect for other people and value of human life are engrained during the formative years by their parents. Too many people in this country have believed the lies that children are 100% equipped to make critical decisions from the beginning, and instead of guiding them to a better way they allow their kids to go on doing the wrong things. Why should any of that misguided decision making change just because somebody has aged to the point of 'adulthood'? This is one way we have gotten off track, and it has 0% to do with gun laws. You can hardly legislate proper parenting, but people sure can fuck it up.

Ok first off Gun control will not work PERIOD. Did proabition work? All that did was give the mob a way to make money . When speaking of gun control it reminds me of this book I read when I was young. The book was The Turner Diaries. In short it was about the goverment banning all guns . They needed people to enforce/confascate. The only available work source was the inner city unemployed . Long story short it caused a race war .

In real life neo nazis used this book as a map for an group named the Order who's members killed Alan Berg in Denver in the 1980's . Later the book was used in the O.K.C. bombing of the federal building .

We as Americans are gun owners . It is the very fiber of our country . Look at our roots people . We were/are forward thinking ,Ballsy, Independant people . The only way to curb this trend is better parenting . I personally blame the hippy movement on alot of our problems . A whole generation of parents sworn to be different . I dont want to waste to much more time but Fuck You rosie you fat c**t no one gives a fuck what you say . You are a washed up never was Go back into the closet and lock the door

Dead on, Matt. Goofy hippy liberalism is at the root of a lot of the problems in this country, including gun violence. Yeah, they've preached peace, but they removed the concept that anything can be judged good or bad. The result? People have grown up believing somebody will just accept them and whatever the hell they do. Good job on your politically correct, non judgemental bullshit.
