Always wanted a CNC but back then I didn't want to drop the 270K asking price, now you can get a great machine here for 80K but still a bit much for home use so I built this one for 20K AUD :)

I have a 4th axis for it but have never used it as nothing I do needs it.

I also have a Medium centre lathe with a DRO, Mig Tig Sheet meetal roll and a folder a bead blaster and a Plasma cutter and a pair of bandsaws so can pretty well make most things at home.

Ian - Full power feed Bridgeport 3 or 5 hp model with digital readouts in good working used condition can be had for about 3500 to 4500.00 us dollars. Freight would kill you though. I sold my Bridgeport and rotophase when I moved. Need to pick up another here soon.

Rich: Here it's really hard to find good condition knee mills that's why I bought the brand new clone and 3 years later you can buy the same machine for half the price :aigo:

The expense was in the quality gear I used in the CNC retrofit but it was well worth it for the reliability/repeatability/speed of cut.

I fitted the machine with a 3hp 3 phase motor and a VFD and have yet to get around to wiring the speed control to the CNC controller.

that bead roller is not the same as the one in the store near me. The one I was talking about is much heavier, has a slip roll and a bending brake. Unit is about 28 or 30 inches wide and 24" tall. About 120 or so lbs.

For a while we had to run 3 phase converter(generator) due to podunk Texas, after paying the 10 grand to the electric company, we now have true three phase! Makes me happy. We just got a new lathe in but we havnt even turned it on, we bought it thinking we could use it and all it does is collect dust, but still my old man wont get rid of it. Whatever. If I could fix the sandblaster and find a balancing machine, I would have almost everything to rebuild/upgrade turbos....

Can you get the part number for it?
