Steve N showed me something pretty neat: take some steel wire (or AL) and wrap it around the end of the pipe. Then mix up some JBweld and attach that wire to the pipe and let sit... Now you done ;).

Buy a bead roller from harbor frieght, then you can do them yourself over and over again, Like me!!!!! Don't jb weld wire to the pipe, you are potentialy inserting future chunks of material to be pushed right into you motor.

on my old set of ic pipes i just taped off a section about a little less than a 1/4 of an inch at the ends of the pipe and used put on some jb weld. pulled off the tape and let it dry. just make sure you lightly sand it to removed any imperfections before you apply the jb weld. it worked great for me. after i changed the pipes 3 years later the beads were perfectly intact.

Rich: When I first got it I was going to build a stand and bolt it to the floor but I figured the CNC sits there 90% of the time and it makes a nice 1000+ kg stand :)

He is not joking about the weight, I worked at my step dads machine shop and had to relocate some of his mills and bridge ports, on of the mills was set down too hard(fork lift) and it cracked the 3 ft thick concrete slab :aigo: I am actually interested in that bead roller, how much do they go for at harbor freight?

I come from a land down under
I looked at a couple of different ones and my machine supplier steered me away from the lighter ones like the HF one linked.

He says they're very limited in the gauge of material they can bead before breaking the frames, even with my big one I still anneal the 2mm aluminium pipe to make it easier.

1 downside with mine is I can't do smaller than 3" pipe as the rollers won't fit inside.

that one at harbor freight looks pretty neat, Its too bad I would probably only use it once or twice, I wouldnt exactly get my money out of it, but would be nice to have....Christmas is coming up soon... hmm... Hey IJ, that bridgeport have an auto 'worm' or feed on the table?

IJ: you sir are sick! What I would do to get my hands on one of those. I have 3 bridge ports, one of them is inop i thought about doing a retro kit on it, it looks like crap, could use some paint but the table is pristine.
