I have been planning on putting in a roll cage this spring. I have heard that alot of the kits companies are offering dont fit without alot of modification, and that it isnt worth the money to even use them as a starting platform.

I have an idea of what I would like it turn out like, and have been studying many designs trying to plan it out. I have not seen any MK3 Supras with full rollcages, and was wondering if anyone who might have a stripped interior and full rollcage could post some pictures up so I could get a better starting point. Thank you.

Racerpage's is set-up for professional drifting but I think they use NASA standards, so yeah, its road-course approved.

Side impact bars are a give-away. Nice to see a set done properly.

That's a different car. I did Rob's (Racerpage's) cage a while ago. When you were here, we had just gotten the blue one and were getting ready to throw out the white one.

But to answer the other question in the thread. Rob's car is a drift car. The tubing is 1.75x0.120 wall. It will pass NASA/SCCA/etc rules.

I love the look of that first rollcage. I am thinking now that I would need to wait and do everything together (engine swap(if i still plan on doing one), rollcage and repaint), because it looks like to be NASA and SCCA legal it involves me taking out the dash. Unless there is someway for it to be legal and I wouldnt have to rip out the dash? Is there any way I could just make the cage bend around the dash and still have it be legal? Or is the best way still to just take everything out and build it into the dash?

Don't cut corners, you'll hate it. Go through the dash. There are ways you could keep it in front of the dash and it still be legal, but it compromises too many things and just sucks in general.

But you also don't need to take everything out behind the dash. But I would suggest pulling the actual dash and putting the cage as far back as you can without having to move everything else that's back there. Then cut the dash to fit around the cage.

Correct, the car is being built to meet an 8.50 and slower IHRA/NHRA certification.

Side impact bars give it away again. Lets hope no one comes across that center line, as door bars like the provide minimal intrusion protection.
