not to act like i know everything but isnt it smart when you build a motor to use assembly lube to coat all the bearings and what not and not just use motor oil?

If you don't want to act that way, why dont you actually be smart and read the previous posts (like #19) :3d_frown:

I'm willing to bet you got all over-eager and assembled the engine too hastily without using plasti-gauge to check clearances or carefully inspecting each part prior to assembly. Haste makes rod-knock my friend.

Also, not using assembly lube is a huge no-no. As previously stated oil will not hang on to parts as well for initial start-up. Make sure you don't get any assembly lube under bearing seats or that will totally F- up your clearances.

I had this same problem with a mini van years ago I had a rod knock and I changed the affected bearing then fired it up and it started knocking after 100 miles I then replaced it again with a +1 size up bearing and it still runs cherry to this day but since you only ran it a little while hopefully you only toasted the bearing and not the crank journal I would pull the crank and have all the journals repolished then check clearances and add appropriate size bearings that should do it.

My 2 cents for what its worth......
