ok, the FPR (on the front of the fuel rail) has a hard line that goes over and down through the manifold, then goes to a rubber line that goes into the J-tube (it's a tube mounted to the block).

The tube has a restriction in it so that if the FPR fails, you have enough pressure to get home. The restriction will cause too much fuel pressure when used with a walbro (since it flows more).

Its the plate on the side of the block with two nuts / studs, under the intake manifold, below the knock sensors, behind the AC unit.

It tube on the side of the plate in the shape of a "J".

You need to by pass that when running that walbro.

um, guys,
thanks for the help, , but I'm not going to make any sense out of yins describing it to me,, I need some pics....

What size are your IC Hardpipes?

That large intercooler is definitely not helping that lil CT get the air all the way to the intake, if you have larger then 2.25" pipes, that's not helping either, if you have 3" pipes that would definitely explain why your bolt-ons have been creating lag!

Thats just my $0.02 ;)

Any codes?
I thought this too. That intercooler is really fucking big. That CT is wheezing through that bitch. And since it has the inlet and outlet on either side, you probably have a longer charge pipe route. On top of the fuel issue everyone else pointed out, this would make it feel slow and tired.

Plus, I you are indeed having fuel issues, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator will help you get the fuel pressure where you need it, aeormotive kits are out there for ours cars and are a great buy ;).

you can either bypass it with a FPR (fuel pressure regulator) upgrade kit, or you can drill out the restriction (if you pull the hoses off you'll see what I mean)

hmm... oddly enough that might work... though i'd rather run one line or drill out the J-tube (as I don't think they'll be long enough to reach without it, plus they're molded lines IIRC...)

Trust me, it's obvious by the time you get to the point of drilling it ;)

I would just get the AFPR upgrade and bypass it alltogether with new braided fuel lines, or if You're short on cash, just take off both fuel lines from the J-tube (plug them with some tape or something so you don't get any metal shavings inside.

The tube is just a hardline, the bottom is open, the top is capped with a small hole in the middle, just start with a small drill bit, and drill it out until it's flush with the side of the pipe.

Make sure to clean out any metal shavings!

Its meant to be a fail safe, so that if the FPR fails, that restriction will build pressure so you can limp home.

With the high flow pump, the restriction will put strain on the pump, and probably make you build too much fuel pressure

So basically, yes :)

if you bypass it all together,

what do you do with the j-tube ?

plug it up. ??

take the whole j tube bracket off with like a dummy plate ?

You don't have to do anything with it, it will just be a useless pipe

Replacing it with a blockoff plate is a more aesthetic solution

ok, i think its making some sense,

I think I remember yrs ago on suprasport.com seeing a j-tube block off plate......

duh -- hello mcfly.....

just curios, isnt that j-tube hard to get too with the engin still in the engine bay with nothing taken off.... ???

Yeah you'll probably have to take it off, my experience is on an engine stand :biglaugh:

By bypassing it alltoghether, you don't use the line on either side of the J-Tube
