Rich Running 7mgte

I have just rebuilt my 7mgte over the chrismas break and when i did i put on the 550cc injectors and the lexas AFM to bring up my fuel cut. Also measured all the valve shims to spec so they are good. Engine is running well now just need tuning and tweaking but it seems to run very rich, the exhaust smells almost like a turbo diesel truck and keeps backfireing on deceleration which is embarassing and anoying. Any ideas on the richness if that is the problem?

check ur timing
get a wideband o2 sensor
get safc or similar and do a little bit of tuning

Timing is good, i just think the 550s are letting out to much gas??? i dont know i will have to keep messing with it and yeah my bro had a wide band i might borrow but the thing that bothers me is the back fireing

i love backfires are you just letting the car slow down in gear? shift or put it in neutral.

back firing is cuz ur running rich
have u adjusted the screw on your lex afm?

yeah i just leave it in gear when i decelerate some times and thats when it does it. maybe im just bein picky but it didnt do that befor the build.

oh and i also have full 3'' exhaust from turbo if that would do anything

When you say "Timing is good", can you be more specific...i.e was it set per the TSRM with the diagnostic block jumped at 10 deg BTDC?

Did you check valve timing...i.e is the CPS in the correct position with the crank damper pointing at zero and both cam gears pointing at the back plate index marks? Making sure the #1 piston is at TDC with all this lined up is a very good idea.

my car back fires, and its all stock, and was running rich too cause the plugs was junk, but i love the way it sounds when it does it

hahahaha,. my car now runs rich,. everything is stock,. backfires on deceleration. i recently bought the car 1 month ago,. had a 3"turbo back exhaust,. muffler was 1" inlet. LOL. so i took it off,. now its loud as FUCK and when it back fires. it echo's through out the town,. hahahaha
