Ive been using a sprung 6-puck feramic with a fresh toyota PP and a resurfaced flywheel. And have been told that should support me around 400hp......of course im not really hard on it either

do you drag race or autoX at all? Or do you usually just get on it on the highway?....like you said "your easy on it"...driveing style is the key factor in this....I jumped to the conclusion that he was going to a drag strip or something of the sorts.

I think what type of driver you are plays a major part in it also

no...LOL...not with a 240 with a 7m....a ford escort clutch could probably hold 400hp in a 240 LOL....a w58 trans and clutch could probably support 400hp in that car.....hell I've had shits that probably weight more.

when i say im easy on it I'm saying i don't beat the sh*t out of it like some do. I myself have not hit the strip with it, athough there are several mkiii owners in my area running the same setup and are a lot harder on theirs than I am and have not had a single issue, and thats with taking it to the strip.

EDIT: and i was saying driver in general, not spicificly for the 240.

keep in mind we are talking about an old used then "resurfaced" plate here...

We can go back and forth all night as I still have 3 hours left of work and a massive cycle time on my cnc lathe.....but did not say it "won't work"...what I did say is "I don't think a resurfaced pp will hold for long"....and I also said "I doubt a stock pp will hold for long"...but long is a matter of personal opinion...I'm not trying to prove you or any one wrong....I'm just saying useing stock components to hold double the power they were meant for is not the perfect idea....but we don't live in a perfect world with perfect bank accounts either.

yea, I know what you mean, and i wasn't talking about a resurfaced PP im running a resurfaced flywheel, and a fresh toyota PP. But im sure it wont hold for any great ammount of time, if it starts acting up then ill change it out.

We are going to find out tonight! I'm going with a stock PP, and as far as I know we don't have a place to get it resurfaced. Surely it will hold better than the shit I have now. I am not extremely hard on my car at all. 98% I stay in a small town and at 50MPH or less. I will occasionally run the 1/8 mile track, and I do boost on the interstate most times I'm there, but rarely do I go past 100. I did once run a Saturn Ion Redline to about 150 one night coming home from the track. I killed him, but it was fun in my almost stock old car.

What in tarnations hell is genus?

A genus[1] (plural: genera, from Greek: Γένος; Latin genus "descent, family, type, gender") is a low-level taxonomic rank used in the classification of living and fossil organisms. The taxonomic ranks are life, domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species

The resurfacing of the flywheel brings the backstep back into spec, and also helps break-in of the clutch...

Up to you, but I'd be saving to do it right some time soon...

I just made it home 300 miles on the new set up, and it ran great. There was a little bit of change to the planned set up. First off, my FW looked brand new. I didn't use the stock PP as planned. We re-used the Centerforce PP, and just swapped the disc out for the ACT that Jay had. I still have to break it in so to speak, and let it get seated before testing it, but there was not one slip or down shift needed in the hilly terrain of Birmingham. Now I'm back home at flat sea level, where the biggest incline I'll see is a speed bump. I'm guessing it's gonna be fine for a good while. I'll still do a 500 mile break in , regardless of the 300 hwy miles it already has on it, and then I won't be rough on it all that often.
