Well, as long as putting a plug on the vacuum line of the old bypass valve is okay, didn't want to do anything that was dangerous. But then again, I took that bet when I got this car. :biglaugh:

By the way, does anyone know what this part is called? My best friend was helping me install this and she kept sqeezing and grabbing at me while I was doing the vacuum lines, I dropped this piece and she stepped right on it. I might need a new one. =P

The old one works, just a bit bent. But rather not take any risk. I'm sure someone's knows the name of this piece!

Here's a picture of what I'm looking for:

It is just a line filter.
The SSQVs are very sensitive to the least little bit of dirt.

Also, no one mentioned (that I could see)
of getting around the open dump BOV stalling problem
by using the electronic box HKS makes for just that problem,
the EIDS..........
That is what it is made for, to electronicly fool the ECU,
so that it doesn't keep dumping fuel that is metered through the AFM,
but is being dumped out a open BOV.

And.........
The APEX S-AFC also has that option in the set-up programing.
And it would also allow you to fine tune your fuel map.
What a deal, what a concept !

Ah well, whatever it's called I need to find a replacement. It allows me to connect the smaller hose coming from the SSQV to the larger hose that connects to the 3000 vacuum line pipe thingamajig.

Also! I need some sexplanation please! Isn't my current set up, just like plugging up the 3000 pipe and accordion pipe?

I meant, since the vacuum on the old bypass valve isn't connected, the valve doesn't open up to release air back into the intake correct? How is this different from plugging the the pipes? I don't stall when I place the old bypass valve on with the vacuum line plugged. I don't understand! Someone give me knowledge! Knowledgeeee!!

Hey man, finally got back and checked the update. good to see you got it on there. and you're right, it is backwards. you need to flip the pipe 180* the bent part is ment to mate up to the 3000 pipe. but w/e it works :D all that matters. and don't worry about sound, trust me PLENTY of us run t hem and in worse places. like I told you I run mine right behind the pass light and it echos real good. plus if you want. get the SSQV gold insert fins, and that'll really change the pitch. MUCH sharper and louder, VERY pleasant IMHO. as far as the BOV and plug question. it sh ouldn't make a difference. HONESTLY like I mentioned, it should be very drivable running open vent. you just got to be careful on the DECELERATION because thats when the BOV opens and starts venting. as long as you have a 5 speed its VERY manageable I had no problems 2 years before I finally got a system that fixed it.

btw the MAFT pro, VPC, SAFC are all good options to cure the open vent issue.

Thanks for all the details guys. I'm new to the 7MGTE also, and have been looking to do this mod myself. Your insight really helps. If anyone is looking to sell off some parts to make this mod, I'd definitely be interested.

Ok sorry for bumping this thread but i really need help... & not to mention im also a noob. ON THE BLOW OFF VALVE part that is. So my car is 100%!!! WOOO!! something rare there. lol, well my turbo is surging. When it was still warm id have the Targa top off i could hear the by pass valve doing its job. Sounded similar to Darth Vader exhaling but at a quicker rate. NOW in December... 10 to 20 Degrees Fahrenheit i can hear surge within the car. So as a first step to make the car 95% stock. What BOV should i get? would cheapo ebay ones do the job? Whats the cheapest?? & how to hook em up?? like i said im a NOOB with BOV & Turbo Engines. Not with N/A engines though. I do have the basics down though.
