Got an 89 turbo. My roof leaks on the passenger side when it's raining.

Cant see the damage in the seals, and my roof is a little damaged anyway. So time for a new roof.

Toyota gave me a quote of around $400 (IIRC). Are there carbon fiber ones for sale anywhere? Would make moving it easier.........

Or are there any other people who make these roofs where I can get it cheaper?

Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if a new roof doesn't fix the leak though. Your seals are pushing 20 years, and may not be quite what they were back then. If I were you , I try to borrow a top from somebody close, and maybe go through a touch free car wash to see if it still leaks. My car has a damage free top, and decent looking seals, but I still get some water upon using the brakes after a good rain.

But aren't the rubber seals part of the roof anyway? The leak (when it comes through) comes through the rubber under the roof itself.....

From what i know you can just replace the seals alone. But in your case as you have a damaged targa it may be the problem, but 20 years old seals is OLD. Time to get new ones with the new targa you are going to get.

The roof doesn't come with the driprails, seals, or the interior piece...

More than likely it's the seals and/or the driprail to roof seal...

The seals go in DRY, if I catch anyone using silicone to put the seals in I will personally fly to their location and slap the shit out of them.

Made my 10 minute job into an all day NIGHTMARE having to scrape the silicone out of the seal channels.

Silicone is needed between the driprails and the targa though (and this is where the leaks usually are). Or you can just replace the driprail and it comes with the sealant already applied...

$400 only buys the metal panel part. At least last time I looked at the price. 15 years ago. The liner and seals were seperate, as talked about.
