Replaced master Cylinder now can't shift in first gear?

Ok guys I replaced my master clutch cylinder a couple of weeks ago and all of a sudden I can't get my car to go into first gear when at a stop. When I am going and slowing down almost to a stop, I can put it in first gear and it will be fine and I can drive. But when I'm at a stop and I can't go in first gear unless I jam it in there and hold the shifter in place. I really don't like doing that so I've been starting in 2nd gear so I don't have to jam it.

The only thing that I can think of is the Master cylinder is not adjusted right or my first gear is finally going out because it's that glass synchro????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

never worked on a supra standard shift.. but i would check the slave cylinder.... usally if the clutch master goes the slave is not far behind in failing... just pull the rubber dust cover back and if its wet.. you found problem

I have replaced my Slave cylinder when I replaced my clutch about 8k miles ago. What's wierd is it will not shift into first gear, when it doesn't stay in gear.

Bleed the clutch some more? That would be my first bet...
Check for leaks too i guess? and if the old cylinder was bad, then you might have to adjust your clutch pedal due to the new cylinder...

Ok, I just went out to the car and checked the fluid in the master cylinder and the level seems to be fine however it's black and not the normal color??

Black is, essentially, the normal color. The hydraulic fluid absorbs water, water corrodes the inside of your lines, and the fluid picks up this corrosion and changes color.

Did you flush the system when you installed the master?

My first guess would be air in the system. You could likely pump the pedal several times, then it should go into gear if this is the case.

My second guess would be the thrust washer in the tranny, that makes it pop out of first gear all the time.

Just like Dave suggested. If it worked before, then I say air. If it goes in gear and pops out = thrust washer = tranny pulled out = money = down time = pain int he ass = that's life.

I made sure to flush the system when I installed the master. If I pump the pedal enough it goes into gear but pops back out when I start to drive.

On my lunch break I went and tried to drive the car again and when I slowed down enough to put the car in first gear it poped out again once I depressed the clutch pedal.

When I get home tonight I'll bleed the line and see what happens.

I replaced my clutch and slave cylinder about 9k miles ago.

It pops out when you press the pedal?

Usually with a thrust washer failure it'll pop out when you release the clutch...

Keep bleeding the system...alot.
