Repaint - Door jambs?

For those of you that have painted your cars, what did you do when it came to the doors and jambs? Did you take the doors off? Tape off the wire harness and door check? Or just leave as is?
How did you clean/prep the hinge area to get good paint adhesion?

My car had a cheapie 1 day paint job when I bought it and I am begining the process of sanding sanding and more sanding but I am unsure of what to do for the door jamb area. I will be going from a light blue/silver to the dark blue Lexus color. The original color was the light blue.

We took the doors off,sanded and prepped it all. Highly worth it if you are going to the trouble of a full color change.

color change, yea do EVERYTHING! its a lot of money to soooo worth it.

just a respray and not looking for show quality dont both painting the jams

I'm putting new doors on, regardless to say since there already off the doors are getting sprayed. Paint is all in the prep, take your time if you want it to look good, yes that means probably pulling the doors.

Did you paint the doors in two stages i.e. paint the jambs then paint the outside?
