doing so in the car u have to drop the whole front sub frame. Its much easier to just pull the motor back out man. It takes less than an hr to do and ull have alot more room to work with with the motor out of the car.

What he said... Sucks but you would have to drop the whole sub frame if doing it in the car...

search for staticpat's redneck rod knock fix. he did it by unbolting the engine and jacking it up a few inches.

you HAVE to lower the front sub frame, and lift the engine as high as you can till it hits the firewall. i've done it, its not terrible, i would do it again over pulling the engine but thats me.

But the real question is..how much is it leaking? Oil is cheap haha. but a clean driveway isn't...

yah thats a fair bit. its your decsion, there both work. I used Loctite 'Instant Gasket' shit is awesome, and free;) No leaks yet. Toyota FIPG is tried and true just ask around here. Good luck man have fun. Make sure the flange of the pan is FLAT, and clean.

You from TX?? You need to make sure that it is coming from the oil pan, there are several places on the motor that will leak and make it look like it's coming from the oil pan. you can change the pan gasket with out pulling the subframe but it is a PITA!! I did it and my leak wasn't even coming from the oil pan. Just check everything before you do it!

Maple Ridge, BC, Canada eh?
When mine was leaking I just unbolted the engine from the mounts, loosened the tranny cross-member and used an engine hoist to tip the engine. Granted I loosened or removed what I had to so that nothing was under stress.

you'll see the leak on the CPS alloy casting/ exhaust manifold / see smoke, more than likely the rocker cover breather hose, rear main seal, ive even had sump nuts leak...
