i'm trying to remove the lock cylinder from the hatch and i was just wondering if i had to take the tail lights out, i took the middle plastic trim piece off and there were no other screws...it looked like i'd have ot remove the rest of the plastic trim in the hatch and unscrew the tail lights to get the center piece out

must be different on the 86.5. on my 90 i have to remove the all the interior plastic inside trim and both tail lights to remove the center tail light. the lock tumbler is under the center tail and the nuts holding it on are on the inside. to remove the center light you have to remove the side lights so you have to remove the plastic interior. Very much a PITA.

i fixed my remote release this way and tested it several times. I reassembled everything and tested it again and it bent again so it doesnt work. dammit. So i have to redo all this crap. i am gonna have to get a lock mechanism that wont bend when i pull the remote release.
