I started the process of removing my engine from the car tonight.
I am having troubles removing the exhaust. I am trying to remove it as one piece, so I am trying to get the nuts off from the turbo elbow. I was using 2 long extensions and a deep socket and it was barely long enough from the bottom. I could not budge them. I sprayed some WD-40 on them and will let them sit.. If this does not work how can I get it off?

And where abouts is the slave cylinder? I cannot find it, unless I am blind and it's right in front of me?

Lastly, Every time I go to take the fan off I can't without troubles. I take the four nuts off, but the brackets that sits against the water pump doesn't move at all. I think the studs are bent a little. Any tips on getting it off? It won't budge.

That's it fornow.
Thanks

Have to take the turbo off. Slave cyl is on the driver side of the transmission. Remove the fan shroud and radiator if you need extremely easy to get that fan off.

Rad and fan shroud are already off. Like I said, the fan does not move at all..
Thanks

I was able to get the bolts off the elbo pretty easily with a long extension, wiggle tail and a socket. I had to use a 3/4in drive so I could get some leverage but they all broke loose fairly easily.

On the fan, I took a long flathead and a hammer going all the way around the fan prying it form the studs. Once it came loose I was able to wiggle it off.

is it the stock elbow? i did undo mine, but i decided to just cut my exhaust right at the stock downpipe to make removal easier. would have worked with the elbow still there.

Everything on this car is stock, so yes, stock elbow.

I will try 3/4" drive. I was using 3/8" drive because thats all I had with 2 long extensions.
Thanks

Why not just disconect the dp from the cat, just make sure you have the car really high so the dp wont hit the ground.

We got the fan off finally, it was stuck on there bad.
Haven't had a chance to touch the exhaust yet, will do that when I raise the car back up.

Can someone explain where the 2 heater hoses are?
It says one is by the brake booster and the other is by the charcoal canister. I see one hose that runs from behind the charcoal canister, behind the engine, to he firewall near the brake booster, but I don't see another hose?
Also, to the left of my exhaust manifold there is 6-8" of pipe with a bolt in the end of it, the pipe has a reddish color to it. Any idea what it is and why it's capped off?

Heat up the elbow bolts and they should come off fairly easy

I was thinking about that, I will try it carefully; I don't need to melt anything.

Anyone help me about the heater hoses? It's really bothering me. :icon_conf

I found it easier to remove the bolts holding the elbow to the turbo. Those three bolts on the elbow to DP were on so tight I broke a socket getting them off using a breaker bar once I had the downpipe and elbow off the car.

I'll try disconnecting it the catback from the downpipe and see if that;s any better.

one on the back of the head to the heater vsv another coming from next to the brake booster (right below and to the left if looking at the booster) and it runs to the hardline that wraps around the block (below intake)

if you pulling teh engine you should really pull the radiator. for one it will give you more space to work with when you acctually lifting the engine out and second youll most likely bang it up trying ot get it out. theres nothing really nothing to it, a few simple connections. just wait untill you get to your starter

The radiator was one of the first things I pulled...:icon_conf
