Hello,

I am in need to find out how to remove these sleeves that sit in the head. What tool / method have you guys used in order to get these guides out. I need one of them out in order to repair the threads with a helicoil. I know I do not want to bend them or gouge them or the area around them. I really appreciate the help from you guys. Below are the pictures of the bearing cap guides.

but that would damage it... lemme look in the EPC and see if they're replacable.

EDIT: Appears they are. I think the part number is 90253-11021, but you'd have to order one to be certain (they're cheap)

Thanks a lot for the help guys, really appreciate that.
I was able to get them out tonight and now it is onto the helicoil. Do you guys have any tips or tricks when it comes to helicoiling this area? I know its pretty straight forward but I don't want to wreck anything in the head.

Thanks again,
Scott

use a collar on the drill bit, so you don`t go too deep, and aluminium can be grabby when you drill it so go slow,

just use a 4 head or flat head and put it in the bore and wiggle it out. it comes right out after 2 good wiggles. i had to remove it to fix my threads with a heli-coil kit. =|

i may not know what all you will be doing with the helicoil but wont the hole be too big after you drill for the helicoil tap to allow this insert back in. wont the insert now have a smaller diameter than the hole?

if Im not mistaken, the guide sits in a bore above the tapped part of the hole and the bore is larger than the thread width.
