It all depends on what your car originaly has. If your car has PPS, or a Non-PPS system, your 2jz wont make a difference.

how can I tell which I have? I know that is a noob question but I have never had to replace one. Plus I am working overseas so I am not in front of the car right now. I am wanting to order the replacement and have it at the house when I return home in just under 2 months.

get a mustang steering rack and modify it to fight, more steering angle that way, mise well put the effort in if you gotta do it.

Also, a dead giveaway is if you look at the rack itself and it has a wire connector coming from the housing it has PPS. I believe non-PPS has a strut connected to it on the passenger side.

89+ had pps.

I thought that was only on turbo modles. I thought the non-turbos got regular

Nope. All 89+.

Steering suspension and chassis are all the same.

PPS was only standard on 89-92 Turbo models. It was also included on 89-92 N/A models with Sport Package. N/A models without sport package do not have PPS.

There are 3 types of steering rack for the A70: 86-88 with damper/without PPS (all models), 89-92 without damper/without PPS (N/A without Sport Package) and 89-92 with PPS (Turbo and N/A with Sport Package).

Having driven a 91 without PPS, I can confirm that the 89+ without PPS steering setup is by far the worst of them. It is extremely light and numb feeling. PPS is the best and the pre-89 setup with the damper comes in second.
