IJ, what are your thoughts on making a new arm rather than reinforcing the stocker? I recently bought a small mill, so I was thinking about making a new bushing housing out of aluminum, welded steel for the other end, and connect it with sleeve.

how are you going to attach the al. housing to the steel arm? and why mix materials?
Why not use pipes? And smaller diameters to get it stiffer?

I come from a land down under
From memory they have a down angle when installed, if not just leave a small hole at the lowest point as a drain.

You'll be stitch welding anyway so the hole can be a semicircle between welds.

Final idea:

I thought about placing the gussets to the sides of the pipe, but I think this will be stronger.
The space between them is 10 mm and its 16 mm larger in diameter around the bushing housing.
It reaches 150 mm from the center of the bushing housing.
The lowest height is 2 mm.

Are these IJ approved now? :)

NashMan: According to IJ whos car died due to this it has happened to some. If I can avoid that kind of accident by doing this then it's worth it to me.

xzeror: what does the other end look like?

or wait, you had to cut the bolt ie a camber or toe bolt so it's the same as in the thread.

Another side benefit I have noticed from beefing up mine, although a number of other changes were also made......I no longer have wheel hop of any type at all ever. I run 285's out back too.

Here's my DIY arm mod, they are not the prettiest or anything, but they are definitely strong then they were originally.

I welded a small length of flatbar to either side of each arm to make flexing and bending very unlikely.

They work good for me.

Flateric: Thats another know thing. Your arms are the trailing arms which are known to be bent which causes wheel hop. This problem have been addressed by LIPP for example who made an cast version. But it's still nice to see what you have done. I will do something similar when I have a new garage for my supra.

The thread is about the toe arms which have broke right next to the weld on the camber bolt side which can cause some serious damage.

Nashman: show your ideas on how your new ones will be?
I will also do my own later.

So far I have started cutting the gussets, pics in my project thread later.
