I was just wondering how many guys are using Redline MTL (70W80) in there 5 speed transmission?? I have four bottles of this stuff that I bought during the winter but should I go back and get some Redline 75W90 instead which is what Toyota recommends??

Since you already have it you might as well use it. If it turns out your trans hates it get the 75W-90.

I've got it, works great.
Had problems with it being stiff into 2nd on cold mornings and the MTL helped a whole bunch.

Good Deal. I will give it a try but I was just worried it was a little too thin but if it works for you guys than might as well us it.

Thanks

What would the symptoms of an oil being too thin? Would you start to hear abnormal gear noise from the transmission or something?

Turbo, what color is your car? That avatar looks alot like my color. I had mine painted metallic blue, but someone on here told me the real name was baltic blue pearl. I think that's what they called it. That's not what the paint store called mine though. Sorry to get OT................lol

I use MT-90 ( it says on the site it is recommended for use in toyota's)
and it is 5W less that what the manual calls for but it is GL-4.

Remember 3.2 quarts, that means 4 bottles doh!
