Red taillight failure box?

Its the sensor that illuminates the "light out" indicator. If these go bad internally they can actually cause the lights to come on at all and not illuminate the "light out" indicator. Its pretty common on older 80s Nissans

I've never seen red before either. Ivory/Yellow only. Here's the info on the part number, hope it helps.

I have a 91T and my dash lights comes on everyday but my bulbs are good, would this work as a direct replacement?

I do have to replace the rear driver's lens as someone hit me and took off and left me with a broken lens and a lil dent.

The actually light housings can be coming unbonded as well (or have cracks) and/or the hatch seal can be leaking.

You could just seal the taillight failure box...
