Looking to replace the fluid in my stock JZA70 differential with around ~150000kms on it. This is the 4.10 diff. Not sure if I should go with the 75W90 with or without the friction modifiers?
thanks,
Not all JZA70's had Torsens. Hold the pinion flange stationary and try to turn one of the side shaft flanges. If you cannot turn it without turning the pinion flange, it's a clutch diff, which requires friction modifier.
Torsens do not require friction modifier, so if it's a Torsen, just use straight 75W90NS. If you have a clutch diff, you can use 75W90, or use 75W90NS and add friction modifier (preferred IMO).
