Dust seals aren't needed (this is covered in arz's thread). No you won't have to service them more often, and your friend was probably having other issues (since wilwoods are used in a lot of racing...)

Hi,

My combo is :

Front : 350Z disk (324mmX30mm, Brembo) and skyline R34 GT-T 4-pot calipers
Rear : mk3 stock disk and skyline R33 GTR 2-pot calipers

350Z disks are nice since you dont have to remove the disk dust cover. Also the 350Z center is bit larger so you just need a reducer to make it fit in mk3 Supra. R34 GT-T calipers are not so easy to install. Better option would have been Z300 calipers. The mounting brakets on Z300 are not so long as on R34 GT-T. Both calipers are made by Sumitomo and they have same piston size. Some Z300 calipers are made from iron but there are also aluminium ones like the calipers on R34 GT-T.

For rear I just made a braket for the R33 calipers and done.

Here are some pictures of the setup. http://oldcrappysupra.blogspot.fi/2012/05/vanhan-tojon-jalleensyntyminen.html

Brakes are not that hard to modify as you might think. It's mostly basic hydraulics. Only problem you might have on combo like mine is that the ABS system might get too agressive. Meaning that it starts working too soon.

Can you fit 17" rims over that front setup?
Did you try the R34 brake discs before deciding on the 350z?

Done a lot of reading about all of this and decided I will be keeping my brakes as is for now. However, when the rotors wear (probably take 4-7 years with my driving) I will do the BBK at that time (front and back). Would prefer to go Brembo over Wilwood, however I don't think that option will exist at that time. Probably pick up the Wilwood BBK through ARZ as cash permits and just let it sit until my present rotor/pads wear. The Brembo rotors on my car (Stock replacement) are doing their task properly. Remember... the stock brakes were designed for our car and have served us well. For road.. I think they are fine (providing you aren't braking hard at 100+ mph a lot). The BBK would be more for looks/performance than everyday driving in my case.

Its not a cheap upgrade at all, but my Brembo rotors cost 800.00 by themselves.

Keep in mind a 2012 V6 mustange has front brakes 53mm larger diameter and 10mm thicker... About the same weight as us and about the same power as a BPU 7MGTE....

I just fitted my brakes, they are alil on the pricey side an most would say way over kill but I don't care what others think. I did the driftmotion cobra bracket kit and ordered a new 2000 cobra r brembo front package. All that is required is grinding down the back of the caliper alil bit no big deal, the rears are 2006 evo 9 mr calipers and 2008+ subie sti power slots with center bore machined out approx 2 millimeters. Overall it cost me about $1800, including new rear stoptech pads an fluid, machining, shipping and some paint. Pics can be seen in my build process album. Let me know whatcha think.

Do you see any problems with using the R34 GT-T brake rotor?

The R34 GT-T rotors are bit smaller than 350Z brembo rotors so if you want to use R34 rotors you should get the 300Z calipers that have shorter mounting "ears". The 300Z calipers would have been better for me also but I realize it when I already had all the parts.

Is it possible to fit the R34 combo or will the mounting ears hit the hub in some way?

I've read in other threads that with the 300zx caliper and 350z rotor combo you wont utilize the whole rotor surface.

Ah, I see that now.. Was kinda wondering too when I put the fronts on today, cuz the bleeders are towards the top. Makes sence now though cuz the fluid filling the caliper an having to bleed both sides. Thanks though for pointing that out, looks like the rears are coming back off..

im happy with my set up feels stops way better then it use to and wasn't to much money considering i just about did a full brake overhaul at the time

-driftmotion steel braided lines
-slotted fronts rotors
-ebc yellow stuff pads up front (good amount of dust thought i think i'll try the green next time)
-nothing special for the rear brakes just some cheap bosch pads and new rotors and i did replace both calipers

Do you have a picture of your caliper brackets?

A BBK is a definite necessity for higher powered cars, too many close calls and way too scary after a run at 100mph+

Ok, thank you. Did you have to trim anything on the hub or caliper? And why didnt you remove that "lower ear" from the bracket?

Some material had to be shaved off from the hub but nothing major. It's a tight fit and like I told before it would have been easyer if I have used the Z300 calipers that have shorter mounting ears.

For not removing the extra material from the bracket... well I have only manual machines in use so that would have been extra work and since it does not hit anything I just leavy it be.:biglaugh:

Here is a pic where you see the point where the material had to be taken off.
